I have played online poker for a couple weeks and done well?
Now it's just like for fun, but I've made a nice chunk of change. Like averaged winning about $624 dollars a week. This with just say maybe 20-22 hours in a week. I have been working my normal college graduate job, which I intend to keep. I picked up a 2nd job more recently and don't want to do it anymore. Do people really profit REALLY well playing a lot of online poker. A lot of times when something becomes a job and not leasure it isn't as fun and/or you don't prosper! What do people think? Does anyone out there play to help suppliment their income?
I agree with you completely. I have had weeks of awful luck/play. I was playing on UB and won $4,700 in 4 1/2 hours. Then went cold for the next 3 1/2 weeks. In the end I'm up but when rent and such depends on it I'm not so certain. I just keep thinking about my buddy who plays and made 72K over a year's time. He claims he easily could have made more. I've seen him win a lot…like 8 thousand in a week. So it's believable, but everyone has bad runs. So it really able to be done?
My regular job pays me 72,000 a year so I'm not hurting as a 24 year old.
It's just like anything else, if your good at it you can make money. Can you get rich from it? Yeah, but you can also get rich from playing football or golf if you are good at them too.
I would suggest playing for fun for now, don't bet more than your willing to lose and if you make extra money than great.

Where can I find a free online poker game where you can start a tournament with play money?
Few myspace.com friends want to play some Texas Hold'em with each other just for fun. Problem is we can't find a site that allows you to create your own game and make it private with play money. Seen a couple with real cash but they didn't have an option for play cash.
www.partypoker.com
www.888.com
those two sites allow playing poker for free, without paying cash, but i don't know if you can play a free game with real bets.

How do people play online poker anymore for money?
I use pokerstars, but I can’t play for real money since I live in the US, and playing for fake money is no fun and the tournaments have 12,000 people in it and you have to win 2 of these tournaments to win any kind of money. Is there anything out there that I can use for real money?
You can indeed play for real money in the US. There is no federal law making it illegal to gamble with a foreign poker site. There is a bogus law that limits the way banks transact with poker sites, but it has NO means of enforcement. I’d recommend using eChecks, prepaid gift cards, or bank transfers for poker site deposits. PokerStars is indeed the fastest site to payout by check. Full Tilt will send money to a money gram station (like at Wal Mart) and you can pick up CASH within days of a payout request! For a list of great poker sites still serving the US market, check http://poker-lobby.com where you’ll also find bonus codes to each site’s best bonus, poker tips/articles and an article outlining poker law in the US. Hope this helps!

What's the best site for online poker?
I want to play free holdem for fun and want to know which of those poker sites is the best. Also all the ones that I've checked out have you install some software; does this software come with any adware or spyware?
Here are two links for you. The first is a list of good sites that offer free play money poker. None of them have any malware of any kind. These companies hope that you enjoy the play money games so much that eventually you will buy in for real money. It would not make any sense for them to install nasty spyware or adware on your machine just to upset you. The goal is to impress you and make you want to spend real money.
The second link is to an interesting poker site where you play online for points, but you can use the points you win to 'buy in' to tournaments that have a real cash prize. So you play for free but can actually win cash.

Private poker online with my friends and family?
I want to host a private, for fun, invitation only online poker
tournament for my friends & family (5-8 people). I'm looking for a web site or software program that would facilitate this, preferably software so that people would not be required to register at a site. I will announce the time, participants will log on from their home and play in the game. I imagine this is possible, but haven't figured out how to do it yet. Any ideas?
How could you expect people to "log on" from there home without registering at a site?
Isn't the definition of "logging on" entering an ID and password that you would get when you register?
As the previous person said… pokerstars does this, of course, you can't do it for free money I think.

Online Texas Hold 'em poker game?
I once played a semi-fun poker game online, and not too long ago. I thought I had played it on yahoo, but I couldn't find it searching through the card games.. *might have overlooked it* - or it might have been sponsored by yahoo… or whatever
anyway, Texas Hold 'em style, and you had to finish in the top few to win.. I wish I remembered more, but I had other priorities that day. I believe you could go to different cities or different buildings with different buy-ins etc.
Sorry.. hopefully somebody knows what I'm talking about
full tilt is a fun poker site. you can play with real or fake money.
